Welcome from the Director of Lifespan Religious Education
My name is Lauren Daniell and I am the Director of Lifespan Religious Education and Coordinator for the Growth and Learning Circle at Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church. The purpose of our Religious Education programs at Horizon is to grow happy, healthy, safe, and spirited lifelong Unitarian Universalists. Our teachers, parents, students, staff, and congregants covenant to do this by nurturing and affirming a sense of Unitarian Universalist identity, self-esteem, tolerance, and never-ending growth. We create opportunities for our children, youth, and adults to ask questions, hear stories, and be joyful with each other while they learn. We teach not only about our religious heritage, but also about the values and stories of many religions – and how each person’s gifts are important to our world and how we can make a positive difference in it. Our members have a wide range of backgrounds and beliefs, and we know that we can all learn from one another. Horizon is proud to provide comprehensive liberal religious education programs for all ages and we look forward to you joining us.
Lauren is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and earned her teaching degree and Master’s in secondary education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She has been an active Unitarian Universalist for nearly 20 years and joined Horizon’s staff in June 2013 after a long teaching career. She is married to Steve and they have one daughter, Madeleine.
