Horizon Community Garden Chosen for Fall Chalice Call by the Southern Region UUA
This Chalice Lighter call will close on December 15, 2018.
Horizon is grateful to be chosen for the Fall Chalice Lighter Call by the Southern Region of the UUA. Funds raised will help launch a new community garden. Our goal is to raise $11,500 and start planting 18 beds in February 2019. We will be mentored by the Giving Garden of Carrollton, which currently operates 32 beds rented out on a yearly basis to nearby neighbors. Our shared goal is to provide a sustainable community garden opportunity for the citizens of Carrollton and neighboring communities, without regard to demographic or socioeconomic status. Community service will be an integral goal of Horizon’s Community Garden. Gardeners will donate 50% of their garden produce to Christian Community Action (CCA) in Lewisville and to Metrocrest Services.
How to contribute:
Donations by check, payable to "Horizon UU Church" with a memo "Chalice Lighter/Community Garden," may be mailed to Horizon UU Church, Attn: Chalice Lighter/Community Garden, 1641 W. Hebron Parkway, Carrollton, TX 75010.

Mystery Beyond Naming
Rev. Lora Brandis
The Tao Te Ching says, “The unnamable is the eternally real. Naming is the origin of all particular things. Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire you see only the manifestations. Yet mystery and manifestations arise from the same source. This source is called darkness. Darkness within darkness. The gateway to all understanding.” (translation by Stephen Mitchell)
