February 5 Revival!
Our Universalist forebears brought the Good News to Texas in the 19th century in tent revivals. Today we have the same mission, to counteract the Old Testament view of God-as-vindictive-punisher and to spread an enlightened view of the sacred and the divine, a mission Texas needs as much as ever. This year we celebrate 25 years of saving Texas from itself. Each year we invite two members to tell us how Horizon has changed them. This year’s witnesses are Pam Schuman and Beth Simmons. The Horizon Get Down and Get Holy Choir will revive us.

February 12 “Sailing Into the Unknown” Rev. Hamilton
When Darwin boarded the Beagle, he had no idea how his discoveries would change the world. Because he sailed with open eyes he was able to see clearly what others were blind to. He could see the mountains rise up grasping their sea-bed fossils to tell the truth of the age of the earth. Today we celebrate an annual homage to Unitarian Charles Darwin and his legacy to science and religion. Marty Robinson will bring memories of Horizon when it was a child.

February 19 “Love, Love, Love”
Rev. Dennis Hamilton
In the afterglow of Valentine’s Day, after the roses are wilted and the chocolates are all gone, where is all the love? From the chemistry of love to the mystic presence that is at the heart of the universe, we will ask ourselves to look deeper, and farther than our own needs for love into the bounty that awaits our surrender. Puppies and babies are easy to love, but what about yourself? There will be an abundance of love available to all for free today.

February 26 Horizon Players
Jim Sturdivant and Horizon Players bring us all the bad jokes about and good reasons to be a Unitarian Universalist—for instance, so we can claim our coffee as a tax-deductible sacramental; so the Lunch Bunch can call lunch Communion; so we can campaign for and elect a better God; you get the idea. Dennis is running a disclaimer and says he has nothing to do with the service, so it has to be in bad taste, and very funny. Don’t miss it.
