Share the Plate
Horizon Share the Plate collections usually occur on the 3rd Sunday each month as a way to involve us in more and diversified social outreach. Money collected during the offertory not designated specifically for pledge payments goes to outreach.
PROMISE HOUSE promisehouse.org
The Promise House mission began in 1984 after the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church conducted a community needs survey. Their research uncovered an enormous lack of community support for homeless and runaway youth. To fill this unmet need, the church purchased a large house located 15 minutes away from downtown Dallas and converted it into a 16-bed emergency shelter.
Today, Promise House operates as an independent 501(c)(3) organization. Since our founding, we have dramatically expanded our programming to include crisis intervention, transitional housing, pregnant and parenting teen services, counseling, education, and outreach to neglected, abused and at-risk youth ages 0-24. Since 1984, Promise House has had an open door – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – to children, teens and families in crisis serving approximately 1,700 youth and families annually. By improving each client’s chances for long-term stability, Promise House works to prevent chronic homelessness in North Texas.
The vision of Promise House is that every youth has a safe and nurturing place to call home.
Promise House moves youth in crisis toward safety and success through:
Emergency Shelter and Long-term Housing
Case Management and Counseling Services
