Horizon's Ally Organizations and Events

Share the Plate

Horizon Share the Plate collections usually occur on the 3rd Sunday each month as a way to involve us in more and diversified social outreach. Money collected during the offertory not designated specifically for pledge payments goes to outreach.

Our November 19th recipient, Faith in Texas is a multi-racial, faith movement for social justice. They are an affiliate of the PICO National Network, the nation's largest network developing civic leadership in low-and-moderate income faith communities for economic and racial justice. PICO stands for People Improving Communities through Organizing.

Faith in Texas trains teams of lay leaders in local churches, mosques and synagogues, serving low and moderate-income people. These Justice Teams identify systemic problems that affect their community, and move entire congregations to action through powerful policy campaigns.

In our divided state, Faith in Texas creates space for (1) Empathy, (2) Storytelling, (3) Shared action across the boundaries of race, religion, and economics.
