Brighten the holidays for local families & seniors

Horizon Toy Drive for Metrocrest Services will run from November 26 through December 10 (only 3 weeks).

For many families the holidays can be a difficult time of year, buying gifts and putting extra food on the table is simply not possible. Some families are worrying about more important things, like how they will keep their lights on, or where their next meal will come from.

As Metrocrest Services prepares for its final distribution of the year, they ask for our support of food, toys, and coats donations. This is a community-wide effort, supported by generous donors and volunteers who help through local business, church, and individual contributions.

Here are links to details:

Urgent Metrocrest Food Pantry Needs

  • Soup

  • Baking items:  cooking items, baking mixes

  • Canned meats:  chili with meat, chicken, ravioli with meat, spam, tuna, vienna sausage, and other protein rich meats

Supplies of these items frequently run low.

Metrocrest is more than ‘just’ a food pantry. They also need personal hygiene and household supplies:

Shampoo, Bath soap, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Toilet paper, Laundry detergent, Dish soap, Household cleaning supplies

General Food Bank Guidelines: Most of you are aware of these, but here are guidelines for donating items to food banks.  They have to check every item and discard those that cannot be distributed. Please donate:

  • Foods in original packaging     Unexpired products

  • Unopened items                       Cans with labels

  • Retail sized items                     Unused products

Please do not donate:

  • Used or opened items     Use by date has expired

  • Candy and soda. Foodbanks are committed to distributing healthy, nutritious food.

  • Alcohol                             Items in glass

  • Home canned products

Volunteer in the food pantry every other 2nd Saturday of the month.
