Passover Seder Potluck Dinner - The Feast of Unleavened Bread

Saturday, March 31, 2018, 8:00 pm in Fellowship Hall

In celebration of the Jewish holiday of Passover, Jews all over the world join together in a ceremonial feast: the Seder.  The word “seder” means “order” in Hebrew.  The Passover Seder is an order of 15 actions which are performed during the Passover ritual meal.

The Haggadah, like a script, tells the story of the Hebrews exodus from slavery in Egypt, more than 3,000 years ago.  Our U.U. Haggadah honors this ancient tradition and relates it to our own U.U. faith.

The Seder ritual and symbolic foods enhance the story, helping us to relive the ancient experience in our own lives and ways.

So - bring your favorite dish - AND, in keeping with Jewish tradition, please: NO Pork, Shellfish, or Leavened Bread products.

After-church Coffee and Sunday Snacks

Most Sundays, 11:45am - 1:30 pm

After Sunday service, all are invited to join us in the fellowship hall for coffee and a bite to eat. Join us and connect with long-time friends and newcomers, too. Chat about the sermon, catch up with friends, meet visitors, and learn about current activities and events. Our coffee hour is fueled by Equal Exchange, a worker-owned fair trade organization.

After Church Lunch Bunch

One way to get to know people from Horizon better is to join us for a casual lunch after church.  We meet at various local restaurants around 11:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Check the welcome desk display for the week's meeting place as the locations are subject to change. Everyone is welcome! Bring family and friends.

Horizon Dinners

3rd Saturdays

Join members for dinner. Be a host or a guest for a potluck-style gathering. Horizon Dinners is one of the best ways to make connections with others. When you join the group, you'll just provide your name, contact info, and any relevant information such as allergies, can't drive far, etc.
At the beginning of each month, you'll receive an e-mail asking if you are available to attend and/or host for that month. Once all the responses are in, the groups are set and e-mailed out about a week in advance of the dinners. Hosts and guests communicate, with the host setting the time to meet, and everyone else volunteering for what they'll plan to bring.

Dinners are intended as adult gatherings, with an opportunity to get to know fellow Horizon members better in a relaxed setting. We make an effort to re-shuffle the groups as much as possible, so you'll be getting together with different people each month.  The more people involved, the more people you get to meet, so join in the fun!

Second Sunday Potluck

2nd Sundays, 11:45am

Share your favorite foods with new and old friends. Everyone is welcome, and our visitors are our guests! All-church potlucks are held most monthly, after the service on the second Sunday of the month. Part of the fun is being together as a community. Together, we provide a bountiful spread that allows us to offer the hospitality of our potluck to every visitor, friend and member. Homemade, take-out and store-bought items are all welcome.

This group meets for food, fellowship, deepening friendship, and occasional field trips.  Topics of interest are presented to the group after eating.  All are welcome.  We also have a subgroup that views a movie and has dinner together on the third Wednesday of the month.
