Candle Lighters

Fridays, 10:00 am-2:00 pm

Candle Lighters, an outreach ministry of Horizon, is a meeting place for adults with memory issues. Open to persons of all faiths, races, and ethnicities, Candle Lighters provides participates weekly activity-based program, including exercise, games, music, and art. It also gives a respite for caregivers. Though donations are appreciated, there is no charge to participate in this program.

Caregiver Support Group

3rd Fridays, 10:00-11:30 am

This Caregiver Support Group, an outreach ministry of Horizon, is for anyone caring for a spouse, parent, relative, friend or companion with dementia. Join with others walking the same difficult path in a safe and friendly place as we share mutual support, information and experience. Church membership not required; anyone from the community is welcome.

Family Fun

Join in the fun! Bring the kids, the parents, and the grandparents. Enjoy potlucks, pizza, movie night, bingo, holiday parties, and more. Email for details.

Game Night

3rd Friday, 7:00-10:00 pm  

Enjoy board games and card games at Horizon. Bring an old favorite game or find a new one. Free childcare is available with advance notice. Come join us in the fun!

Healthy Women

1st Thursdays, 7:30-9:00 pm

The Healthy Women Group provides support and encouragement for women with various health-related goals, such as increasing their level of fitness, eating more nutritiously, losing weight or maintaining weight, dealing with health challenges, and developing stress reduction techniques. Our monthly meetings include a time of group exercise, a discussion of a topical, health-related article, and a check-in of how we are doing with our personal health goals and challenges. This group also participates in an annual service project and raises money in local walk events.  Join us for fitness and fellowship!

Men’s Support Group 

Saturdays, 8:00-10:00 am

The Men’s Support Group offers men a supportive, safe environment for sharing personal challenges and concerns in a confidential setting. Many men are socialized to share only things external to them. This group for men age 18+ offers a sanctuary to share more about matters of the heart. Try us out and see if we fit your needs.

SMART - Self Management and Recovery Training

Mondays, 6:30-8:00 pm 

SMART Recovery, an outreach ministry of Horizon, is addition recovery support group (not a 12-step) focused on self-empowering, abstinence-focused, self-help based on science, reason, and humanistic values, principles, and tools.

SMART uses rigorously tested methods from Change Theory, Motivation Enhancement Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. In our private setting, small group participants learn skills, discuss freely, share experiences, offer mutual support, and are trusted to maintain confidentiality.

Led by trained volunteers, meetings are free (donations accepted) and open to the public. 

Affiliated with the Self Management And Recovery Training program.

Trailblazers

1st Wednesdays, 4:00-5:30 pm

Trailblazers, an outreach ministry of Horizon, is an educational and support group designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for individuals with early-stage memory loss/dementia and a person's care partner.  Speakers present topics relevant to aging and disability. Sessions are free; no registration is required.

Women’s Retreat

“Express Yourself”

29th Annual Horizon Women’s Retreat

September 28 -30, 2018

Friday evening through noon Sunday 

Join us during this weekend retreat where we can throw off responsibilities and get to know ourselves and know others. The annual event designed for Horizon women and visitors age 21+, is a great place to reconnect as well as meet new friends!

It will be a relaxing weekend in a relaxed setting. The location, Glen Lake Camp and Retreat Center in Glen Rose, Texas, is a beautiful retreat center with wooded areas, walking trails, and access to the Paluxy River. We stay in deluxe cabins and have access to a limited number of hotel-style rooms.

Look for the Women’s Retreat Registration table in the Fellowship Hall before and after service throughout August. Some scholarships funds are available. We don’t want anyone to miss out. Sign-up early! Registration limited to 50 women.
