Brighten the holidays for local families & seniors - Donate food, toys and coats to Metrocrest Services
Horizon Toy Drive for Metrocrest Services will run from November 26 through December 10 (only 3 weeks).
For many families the holidays can be a difficult time of year, buying gifts and putting extra food on the table is simply not possible. Some families are worrying about more important things, like how they will keep their lights on, or where their next meal will come from.
As Metrocrest Services prepares for our final distribution of the year, they ask for our support of food, toys, and coats donations. This is a community-wide effort, supported by generous donors and volunteers who help through local business, church, and individual contributions.

To Understand Love, We First Need to Understand Hate - What is Transphobia
Paula Minnie Ellis
There are many reasons transgender people, and especially transgender people of color, face such immense social problems. For example, 27% of adults surveyed in a recent YouGov survey are not willing to befriend a transgender person. That's a lot of people who aren't willing to even consider being friends with someone just because of who they are - before even meeting such a person! If we take it as a given that we are to love others, then why is this seemingly so hard for people to do with transgender people? What are the roots of the ostracism and other prejudices trans people face?
About Paula Minnie Ellis
Vice President, Trans-Cendence International
We are a support group for transgender people and their loved ones. We have chapters in Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, and Oklahoma City. We are dedicated to providing safe spaces for trans people and their families to discuss their feelings, and to help keep families together when a family member transitions. We welcome transgender and gender diverse people regardless of identity and path. We welcome spouses, significant others, family, friends, and allies of the trans community. We welcome trans youth and their parents.
